I created this entire album in one week during my most recent visit to Japan. During my 3-week stay, I hit up a bunch of record stores and copped whatever looked interesting. I also made sure to do all the touristy stuff, like sightseeing, hiking, checking out the temples, eating amazing food - you know, the typical travellers’ checklist. On top of digging for records, I carried around a portable tape recorder, capturing any sounds that caught my attention. Then, I completely dedicated one of the three weeks I was in Japan to flipping the records I found, and this project is the result of me making beats, literally, 24/7! I was surprised at how much I was able to get done in just seven days. My mind and soul were focused on a single purpose. Oh yeah, I took lots of pictures and videos too, and for every beat on the album, there’s a corresponding video on YouTube that will bring you into and along on my adventures in Japan. The quality of the videos is by far outshone by the beauty of the music, but the visuals add an invaluable layer to the theme of the album: A Week in Japan.
